Drink Aware Campaign

"The Cock" as it's known to the locals is a village pub in the finest tradition. We provide locals and visitors alike with the opportunity to get together in friendly surroundings and enjoy a chat over a refreshing drink and some good food.

We're easy to find, just take a look at the map. Just a five minute drive from Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill and surrounded by many popular country walks and cycle routes as well as the country parks of Ditchling Common, Chailey Common and the South Downs.

Many a weary traveller pops in and we don't mind the odd pair of hiking boots inside or a few bikes parked out front. If you're slightly less energetic there is of course our free car park right next to the pub.

We enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and welcome your children and your dog. If the weather's nice, you can sit out in the sunny beer garden or on our sheltered patio.

We're a free house so you will find a variety of ales, ciders and lagers but you'll always be able to get a pint of well kept Harveys along with fine wines, or even a shot of something a little stronger.

There's a full menu served all day for you to enjoy in the restaurant, either of the bars or outside. Choices include pub favourites like Ham Egg & Chips, Chilli, Burgers and Pies, plus bar snacks, sandwiches, paninis and an ever-changing specials board. We like our food to be home made and from local producers where possible. You can see our full menu here or book a table.

For the sporty types we offer the full range starting with a big screen TV to enjoy the major events without breaking a sweat or fighting over the remote at home. Then moving up the scale we offer a Nintendo Wii, a dart board and both pool and bar billiards. Or if you're feeling really fit, why not join us on a Sunday evening in the Summer for a game of rounders on the village green followed by a refreshing glass of something back at the pub.

We also like to support local groups and events including Plumpton Rugby Football Club, the Church Fete and the annual Wivelsfield Village Day as well as encouraging our local teams by offering great value post-match refreshment.
